| TOGETHER WITH | | Good morning, Spalding County! Consider us lucky. That massive winter storm swallowed most of the country this weekend, but stopped just short of Spalding County. It’s almost like someone drew a line on the radar and said "this far, no further." Seeing images from our neighbors to the north is a sobering reminder of how close we came. We woke up to a little ice on the steps Sunday morning (the dog handled it fine). With lows dropping into the teens tonight, be sure to set faucets dripping, cover frost sensitive planes and make sure those outdoor spigots are protected.

| Cards Over Clicks helps children disconnect from their devices and reconnect with the real world. Founded by local Navy veteran Dennis Loewer, this 501(c)(3) non-profit uses the excitement of card collecting to develop critical social and learning skills.
From Pokémon and Sports to Disney and Star Wars, every free card packet comes with a grade-specific educational worksheet tailored to Georgia standards. Whether for Pre-K or High School, these packs encourage students to achieve classroom goals and engage with their peers face-to-face.
They help educators and parents turn "social media timeouts" into fun, educational wins. Their mission is simple: inspire kids to put the phone down and learn through family-friendly collecting.
Ready to inspire your students or support the community? They are actively seeking teachers to challenge their classes, educators to help design worksheets, and local business sponsors to keep the packs free.

The Spalding County Courthouse and Justice Center also closed for the day. School officials announced they're working closely with the Spalding County Emergency Management Agency to monitor conditions, with a decision on Tuesday's operations expected Monday afternoon. Governor Brian Kemp has declared a state of emergency through Thursday. | County Approves $3.9 Billion Data Center Complex | Spalding County commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to approve one of the largest development projects in the county's history—a $3.9 billion data center complex along Interstate 75. The Wallace Jackson LLC development will span 190 acres and include 10 buildings totaling 5 million square feet. County officials say the project will lower tax burdens for residents, but dozens of community members attended the meeting to voice concerns about the loss of farmland and potential environmental impacts. No construction timeline has been announced. | Local Lottery Player Wins $4 Million | A Griffin resident hit it big last week, winning a $4 million top prize on a scratch-off ticket purchased at Kips Package Store on South Hill Street. The anonymous winner claimed the prize on January 20 and opted for the cash value of just over $2 million. It wasn't me unfortunately, but if your neighbor suddenly shows up with a new boat, now you know why. Georgia Lottery proceeds fund education programs including the HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K, which have benefited more than 2.25 million students statewide since the lottery began. | | | | Jean - Female - 1 year old Spalding County Animal Care & Control |
